A Desk That Speaks to My Soul -Video Tutorial

Every now & then I'll do a project that speaks straight to my soul.
We've all had them.
That piece that spoke to us.
Maybe the story behind it or the person who owned it was special.
Maybe we just felt an instant pull towards it...a connection of sorts.
Maybe it was one of those pieces that we went to great lengths to get.
Whatever the circumstances, story or situation, anyone who has painted furniture for some time knows exactly what I'm talking about.
This was that piece for me.
A simple waterfall desk with no great back story & no interesting tale to be told.

Clean Those petrified Paintbrushes

I paint a lot.
As a matter of fact, I paint so much the average greeting people give me is “What are you painting today?” rather than the more normal “What’s up?” or “What's going on”?
Do I mind this?
Ummmmm absolutely not!
I'm kind of sort of maybe just a little bit obsessed with  paint.
So as soon as people ask, it allows me the opener I need to talk about my newest project, color choices & even the specific finish I’ve chosen.
Ya, I might like talking about it almost as much as I love doing it.
But in all the awesomeness that is painting & talking about painting……I can get lazy sidetracked.
I don’t mean to, honestly, but when you’re running at 120 mph most days it’s bound to happen.
A very abused brush....poor thing

Metal Cart Makes a Champagne Splash

Metal carts, tea carts, beverage carts....whatever you want to call them, I <3 them.
Seriously, where else can you find an adorable piece of furniture that's so easy to move around on its little wheels & offers so many versatile uses?
 Ummmm, probably nowhere.
So when I find them, I run like a crazy woman & grab those puppies  quickly purchase them right up .
This poor little guy had been left for dead when I stumbled upon him.
No, seriously....I found him cast away under a heap of other no longer loved items in the very back corner of a flea market.
I instantly fell in love with all his rusty, crooked glory & dug him out.
This was AFTER he got a thorough bath

Top 10 Posts of 2012 + My Fave Post

I absolutely heart the 'best of' posts that come out between December & February each year.
With all the blogs I follow, I just know I must be missing something amazing somewhere.
It kinda seriously stresses me a bit.
My reader is jammed full at the moment with over 2 months of reading to catch up on.
What can I say; I'm always running one step behind.
Buuuuuuut....these 'best of' posts are my  insurance that if it was a hit.....I'm gonna see it.
I heart, heart, heart them!

So it only makes sense then that I'm gonna rock one too.
After a little researching, some double checking of numbers & more than a few head scratches....
I've compiled my very own 'top ten of 2012' post.
{Insert loud cheers here}
Edited to add: I really, really, really do know how to spell r-e-a-l-l-y :) My fingers were faster than my brain obviously

The Beauty is in the Struggle~Personal Post

It has been many months since I’ve been to this little piece of heaven. I know this is where I should say “I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted”…. but I can believe it. To me it feels like it’s been an eternity. A grueling eternity, away from the very space my creative soul yearns for.
I struggled with whether or not I should write this post. My blog is my happy place. The place I created to share, to inspire & to rejoice in each of our individual talents the Lord has blessed us with. From the very moment I created it, even with trepidation in my fingertips as I typed those first words, I felt a giddy happiness in my heart. It has been the place that makes a hard day better, a challenging project worthwhile & a place where others speak the very language of love for refurbishing & creating that I do. Just a few clicks on the laptop & I was entering a another part of my soul.
