Weathered & Leathered Side Table

Hello friends!!
I'm back & feeling so much better! I think I slept enough
in the last few days to be caught up for quite a while.
I'm still working on getting caught up on e-mail so bare with me please :)

I thought I would show you a project I recently finished that I almost scrapped.
This was one of those projects where I knew from the moment I laid eyes on it
exactly what colors, finish & techniques I wanted to do.
Everything was good too...........
until I realized I new product I had tried failed in an epic way.
Could have been user error for all I know...either way,
I believe after a little tweaking I can call it a 'save.'

Project Mash-up

Hello friends.
I think the antibiotic is starting to make a dent in things.
Feeling just a bit more alert today.

But since I'm still working on getting back to 100%, I thought
I'd share some finished projects with you that really don't need much
of an explanation. Smaller, easier ones.
We'll call it eye candy, how about that?

The first one is a set of ceramic pears I painted with Cece paint.
These were extremely shiny & slick so for those of you
still wondering if Cece's paint truly does stick to anything....it does.
I had no problem painting these & once dry; the paint didn't budge!

Ceeeee-le-bration Time Come On!!

I apologize for not coming back yesterday to share my good news with you.
I've been feeling pretty under the weather.
I had a root canal a couple years back & it turns out it somehow became abcessed.
Not fun at all & I'm moving very slow today.
I kind of thought that was the whole point of a root canal....
to clean everything out so this doesn't happen.
I guess that's why I paint furniture & don't drill teeth ;)
If you have e-mailed me & haven't gotten a reply yet;
I'm going to be working on those this evening.
Probably slowly.....between napping :)

So.....the good news??
My business celebrated its first birthday!!!
I was over the moon all day!!
The first year is always the hardest as many of you know so reaching that
milestone in one piece AND experiencing growth was more than I could have asked for.
I've met so many wonderful people & experienced
so much love & support; I'm truly blessed beyond measure.

To celebrate I became a dot come!
I decided it was better to do it in the beginning than to wait.
Kind of an exciting move & I'm so glad I did it!
Now I just have to finish getting this site in order
& from thereI hope to get in a good rhythm with all the fun projects
& finished pieces.

I'm sorry I don't have any great projects to share with you today.
I have them...I just have no energy to post them.
I'm off to curl back up with a fuzzy blanket
& will be back as soon as I'm up to par.

Have a wonderful night friends.

Fun New Features & A Posting Schedule

We've got sunshine & dare I say.....warmer temps!!!!
Okay so it's only 41 degrees, but 'round these parts that's a downright heatwave.
I've been be-boppin' around all day singing along to music as I work.
There's just something about sunshine, good tunes & doing what I love
that puts me in such a GREAT mood!

So I've mentioned I'm doing some work getting my blog where I want it.
I still have quite a ways to go since I'm teaching myself
which means learning from completely messing up trial & error.
But-one of the things I have nailed down is a posting schedule.

I think it's great for my readers to know what to expect &
I absolutely thrive on a schedule.
Okay, maybe not 'schedule' but I'm so much more efficient
& less stressed when I know what to expect.

My mind has been bouncing between so many things this past week
that I got a little behind on my features & thank yous.
You can send me to time out as soon as I'm done writing this post.
I won't mind really....
as long as I can bring my fuzzy blanket with me for a quick nap.

All kidding aside;
I was so excited when I heard my 'Shades of Green' dresser was featured!
I love this little guy so much
so of course I love it that others love it.
Make sense?

Gail from My Repurposed Life featured it at her
Catch as Catch Can weekly Linky Party.

The amount of inspiration found at this party is insane!
I was honored to be featured among all of it.
Thank You Gail!!!
I will be coming back in a little bit to share some fun stuff with you guys.
Hope to see you back so until then,
have a great Tuesday!!

A Weathered Vintage Side Table

Is it me or does Monday seem to come back around faster every year?
Well it came back fast this week & if that wasn't bad enough...
it brought backup with some unseasonably cold temperatures,
strong winds &......more snow!!! UGH!!
Welcome to the Midwest folks.

I did get to hang for a while with a great friend & do a little shopping and
I got to spend some time with a few cool teenagers
who made me laugh so hard I had tears rolling down my face.
These are the moments I just want to freeze.

Buuuut, here we are back at Monday & time to get cracking again.
I just finished up a pretty little side table so I thought I'd share with you.

The Underestimated Treasure

Out driving one day, I saw a box.
Actually a chest of sorts, sitting on the curb.

I almost kept driving, but something pulled me back to it.
It was big & heavy & very red.
It was also DIRTY & covered in paint splatters.
As I looked at it sitting there I felt sad for it.
It had been thrown so haphazardly to the curb it was almost in the street.

Someone was obviously in a hurry to get rid of it.
A chest that had at one time been new & shiny & useful....now sat forgotten.
I decided in a minute, I would take her home.

'Sharp' Looking Little Lady

Happy hump day!
Can you believe we are on the downhill slide to the weekend already?!
Cra~zy how fast the weeks have been going.

Okay, so have you ever been so excited about a project,
not because it turned out super cool or anything, BUT because it was just so ugly before?
Yep, this is one of those, so I just had to share it.

It's your basic knife block, had it for years,
painted it white shortly after I got it & that's how it stayed.
Since I've been slowly working on my kitchen when time allows,
I decided last month was well past time to do something about it.
So she got a change of wardrobe.

Old Box...New tricks

First of all, I have to apologize for this is getting out so darn late.
My youngest was home with the flu today so there was a bit more going on than usual.
Which means I'm also just a bit behind on e-mails as well.
So if you've e-mailed & haven't gotten a reply....
I'm coming, I promise. Just playing catch up from today.

All right then... onto the fun part!

So not sure if I've mentioned it yet or not...but I kinda have a thing for storage.
Baskets, crates, boxes, rubber maids, jars......
anything I can store, organize, make pretty or slap some kind of label on.

I didn't however, jump on the bread box bandwagon right away.
Mainly because I couldn't figure out how to incorporate one into my home.
My thinking changed one day when I'd had enough of kitchen counter clutter.

Feature Love & Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes

Good Morning Friends!

I had to jump on here and give sincere thanks for TWO MORE FEATURES!
The Sylvia desk was featured again!

First off.....
Kammy from Kammy's Korner featured it on her
 Trash 2 Treasure Tuesdays party!!

Thank You Kammy!!!!
I'm completely stoked to be featured by her considering she knows a thing or two about making the old & forgotten beautiful again.
Her parties are always packed full of inspiration!
Stop by & check it out!

The second feature was from  Suzanne over at Pieced Pastimes.
For her first ever Saturday Sparks!!

Thank You Suzanne!!!!
She does some of the most beautiful mantle displays I've ever seen
& her blog is full of vintage love & some of the most creative uses
for found treasures.
If you haven't been there yet, stop on over & check it out!

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again;
I'm always so humbled & ecstatic to be featured among such wonderful talent!

You may have also noticed some changes to the blog here.
I've been working  very hard on creating a layout & design that speaks to me
and makes things easy on you.
My brain is spinning with HTML codes right now & my eyes are crossed
after days of being immersed in it.

I now have a HUGE respect for people who do this & make it look so darn easy.
I do have to say; I am kind of geeking out on the fact that
I'm figuring it all out by myself though :)
Everything from the buttons to the labels to the background.

I am still tweaking & playing to get it just right, so if at anytime something doesn't work, please let me know & I'll get it fixed right away.

I even added a way to follow me through Instagram :)
I thought it would be a fun way to do behind the scenes & workshop photos.
Annnnnnnnd I'm keeping tabs on how I do everything,
what tutorials I use, any tips/tricks etc. so I can eventually do some posts on it.

That's all I've got for this morning, but I'll be back
this afternoon with a  cute little repurpose/makeover
I did for my furbabies.

Until then.........

Have a wonderful morning!

The Apple of My Eye

Recipes are one thing you probably won't see a lot of around here.
It's not that I don't like cooking, it's just not as much fun as painting.
Besides, I'm not much of a recipe follower.
I'm more of a throw in a little of this, grab a little of that & hey,
if that looks good....throw it in too.
Pretty much the same way I paint.
What I do like, is simple, quick & delicious.
You wanna know how to make apple cinnamon chimichangas in less than 15 minutes?

Intentional Living

Friday I set aside some time to take a walk through the timber.
Spring is just around the corner & soon the snow will be gone.
The brisk air replaced with a cool breeze.
The soggy white ground gone & in it's place, bursts of greens.
I wanted to enjoy the last bit of winter before it left us.
The faintest hint of green......

Featured Love

Sharon from Elizabeth & Co. featured my Sylvia  desk at her 'Be Inspired' linky party!
Which is chock full of inspiration!
Inspiration on which I might have gone a little pin crazy over this week.
What an honor!

The Sylvia waterfall desk makeover
I am always humbled when I am featured among such talent.
Thank you Sharon!

If you haven't done so already, head on over & check out Elizabeth & Co.

You'll be inspired!

I got yet another wonderful surprise when I found out
Clydia, from Three Mango Seeds
featured my blog in her 'Favorite Furniture Friday' post!!

Clydia has been a fave on my blog roll for-evah!
I think we're kindrid spirits...or soul sisters....
she shares the same love of typography & design that I do.
And she rocks it!
Thank you Clydia!!!!

If you haven't been to her corner of the blog world yet, jump over & check it out.
Three Mango Seeds
You'll be amazed!

I'm still riding the good vibes & am off to tackle a vanity & finish some signs.
Have a beautiful Saturday!

Time to Get Your Game On

I love tables.
Cat's out of the bag.
They're versatile. They can seriously be used in ANY room of your home.
They make for a quicker project. Great to work on while paint is drying on bigger pieces.
They can be repurposed in a million different ways. Can we say dog bed awesomeness?!
Last summer I found myself gravitating towards them.
Everywhere I looked I was finding cute tables.
I found this matching pair at a flea market.
In this area it's rare to find a matching pair of anything.
One or the other has usually met some kind of tragic demise.
Either that, or there's some kind of underground witness protection program for them
& they're all hiding away after testifying against cruel crayons, bullying beverages &
out of control water rings.
Whatever the truth is; I was excited to find a matching pair.
To celebrate, I decided to do something fun with them.

Shades of Green Dresser

I just HAD to mention snow in my last post didn't I? Oye!
I've been happily counting down the days until spring...absolutely itching for some sunshine & open windows.
I was so confident this last snow storm was in fact, our last snowstorm I even started putting shovels & salt away.
Then the weatherman tells me to expect another 4-8 inches of the white stuff.
He said what?!?!
I changed that channel thinking if I didn't heart it, it couldn't be true.
Ummmmmm denial blatant denila didn't pan out so well for me. Sigh....
Since I will obviously have to wait a bit longer for that spring air......
I thought I'd share a project that reminds me of warmer days.
This piece was done back in late September early October
when I could still work outside....in jeans & a t-shirt :)
It's an old green dresser that desperately needed to come out of the 70'sshade of pea green
& into a more vibrant, fun, modern shade.

Staying Inside The Lines-Harlequin Table

Happy at least there's no snow Saturday!
I hope your weekend is treating ya'll right. I have been entertaining this weekend.
Okay so entertaining is a little too fancy a word for how we roll in this house.
I'll say instead; I have been lounging, chatting & dealing with a serious case of the giggles.
My oldest has come down for a weekend visit!
Woot woot!!!
I would do a cartwheel from happiness, but......
I'm afraid it would end up looking like some sort of sad flopping about on the floor.
Yes, I'll save us both the embarrassment.
You're welcome.

But, since I do have to share him with everyone else in town, he is off for the night to have fun with friends.
Perfect time for me to get some blogging done I think.
I absolutely <3 this table!!!
It started out a bit rough....started getting a makeover........got set aside........then a year later finally got finished......in a completely new direction!
